The carnival is here! A magical week that transforms the entire Garraf region into an incredible party of color and music. Sant Pere de Ribes Carnival
We start with the house party: the Carnival of Sant Pere de Ribes The perfect option to enjoy a carnival with family or friends with fun and no hustle and bustle.
Thursday, February 20
The Carnival in Sant Pere de Ribes 2020 starts on Thursday at 20:30 with the 4th popular contest of omelettes. Will take place very close to our restaurant, in the Entitat GER and you can sign up until same day, either as a participant or as a tasting judge.
Friday, February 21
After the arrival and speech of their majesties the kings of Carnival (in the Plaça de la Vila from 19:30), the xatonadas will begin, a popular dinner in honor of one of the most typical dishes of the area, the xató -o cható-, which consists of an escarole salad with anchovies, tuna and cod garnished with a homemade sauce made from nuts and some kind of dried tomatoes.
For many years different houses and villages they compete to see who makes the best xató, making these authentic classic celebrations in the area. During this carnival year you can enjoy 2: one organized again by the Entity GER in the Nau Pere Vall i Soler and another, by Els Xulius-CSR at El Local. Both at 21:30 p.m.
For those who still want to party at 23:30 starts the Barnaval, a route accompanying the kings of the carnival by the different bars in the city. And, to close the night, the concert of Fardo in the Nau Pere Vall i Soler.
Saturday, February 22
Saturday is the day of disguises. At 16:00 the children’s carnival starts from Plaça dels Països Catalans and will count With a show for the little ones. And after 22:30 what everyone was waiting: the rúa de comparsas y mascarots, which from the Entitat GER will travel practically all the town to finish in the Plaça de la Vila. And to top it off there will be a big party at the Carpa Revolució with performances and dj.
Monday and Wednesday, February 24 & 26
And for those who still want carnival in Sant Pere from Ribes on Monday 24/02 at 19:00 you can enjoy the comparsas, that will take place throughout the town and on Wednesday 26/02 you can enjoy the burial of the sardine (from 7:30 p.m. on the Plaça de la Vila) followed by a large popular sardine lunch.

Where to eat at carnival?
Carnival days are usually crazy days when finding a place to sit down to eat can be an impossible mission. If you want to avoid having to eat something standing on the street we recommend you look for places a little away from the hustle and, if possible, book before.

SITGES CARNIVAL
If you want to experience Carnival at its best, we recommend you visit Sitges, probably the most famous and colorful Carnival in Catalonia. A multi-hour rua in which more than 40 floats and 2,500 participants participate and which houses more than 300,000 people in the narrow streets of this spectacular coastal town.
It is a massive Carnival that starts many days before with all kinds of activities for all types of audiences: children’s shows, gastronomy, concerts … Among all of us we recommend:
Saturday, 22
It is the day chosen for the famous bed race, where participants assemble and tune spectacular beds with wheels that compete around the town. You can see them from 11:00 in the Casino Pardo Suburense or from 12:00 on the tour that will pass through the streets Francesc Gumà, Jesús, Cap de la Vila, Parellades, Sant Pau, Passeig de Ribera and Sant Pere
Sunday, 23
From 19:30 the Rúa del Desenfreno will begin, one of the main dishes of this Carnival. It starts from the end of the Paseo de la Ribera, passing through La Fragata, Bassa Rodona, Plaça del Pou Vedre, C / Espalter and then Sant Francesc and Cap de la Vila.
And to round the night, the party will continue in the Society Recreativa El Retiro and at the Casino Pardo.
Tuesday, 25
Like Sunday, but for the bravest, Tuesday comes out again. At 9:00 p.m. the Rúa del Exterminio begins, in which both the collas and the attendees burn until the last energy reserves parading and dancing until the wee hours of the morning. OTHER CARNIVALS: VILANOVA I LA GELTRÚ AND ROQUETES
As in the neighboring towns, Carnival is also very intense in Vilanova i la Geltrú and Roquetes.
