We opened our blog with one of the treasures that our municipality hides: the route through the 4 best wineries in Sant Pere de Ribes. An ideal plan whether you are a wine lover or just plan a different getaway with your partner or friends.
As you may know, Ribes is located in the Penedés region, which gives its name to our own Origin Denomination (D.O.) and is famous for its excellent wines and for the best cava in the world. It is said that this quality is marked by the peculiar conditions of the soil – rich in phosphorus and low in potassium – and the benevolent climate of the area.
Be that as it may, Sant Pere de Ribes is not only a perfect place to produce wines, it is also to taste them. Here you can find from small private cellars to prestigious family wineries. And the best part is that most of them are installed in beautiful centenary farmhouses (called locally “masias“) surrounded by nature, creating a magical environment to taste white, red, pink, cava and needle wines.
In addition, the proximity between them allows us to flee from the typical visit to a winery and organize a much more route to our air, knowing different ways of understanding and making wine.

Celler Puig Batet
Without a doubt, one of our favorites. His good work and closeness made us fall in love from the first moment. So much that you can find them in our wine list;)
They offer visits to the vineyards, where you will know the fauna and flora of the area and enjoy a tasting among grapes, as well as a visit to their winery, where you will know the method of winemaking and you can enjoy products from the area . Both activities have a duration of 1h and 30min and can be booked separately.
They also have workshops for children and a different experience: pairings. You can choose between enjoying wine and local products or opt for a sweeter option with the typical Garraf stones.

Torre del Veguer
A biutiful construction that has origins in 1359 paired with a collection of wines that treasure different national and international awards. Welcome to the Veguer tower.
In its facilities you can enjoy a guided tour of the estate, listed as a historical-artistic monument by the Generalitat de Catalunya, know its winery and enjoy its wines while we contemplate some drawings of Dalí, friend of the family.
The visit lasts one hour and for minimum groups of 6 people. If we want a more complete experience we can opt for the visit with a wine pairing with cheeses.

Celler Vega de Ribes
Following our winery route in Sant Pere de Ribes we find Celler Vega, located in the masía of La Serra. This property dates from the twelfth century and is one of the oldest in our municipality.
The space has a documented wine tradition since 1540 and today, 16 generations and a transfer later, continue to produce good wines in a magical environment.
Its vineyards, surrounded by forests and carob trees, or its cellar, which combines modern machinery between walls with centuries of history, are a very good option for an escape.

Celler de Ca l’Artigas
To finish our winery route in Sant Pere de Ribes we came across the Celler de Ca l’Artigas. This is undoubtedly the most intimate and personal option. A small, totally manual producer that shows, in a personalized way, its fields and wineries.
With 180 years of family history in wine production, this winery makes reduced visits and personalized events such as, for example, the combination of wine tasting combined with a flamenco tablao.
