Did you know that 3 of the 10 best beaches in Catalonia are in the Garraf region? And we do not say it, but that is how the famous Timeout guide certifies it.
So, if you plan a summer at the beach near home or you want to take a dip in the Mediterranean, join us, we will tell you all the secrets that our coasts hide so that you can spend a day at the beach.
The 3 best beaches in Garraf
Sant Sebastià Beach (Sitges)
One of the best known Garraf beaches, but also one of the most beautiful. La Platja de Sant Sebastià is made up of 200 meters of fine sand located in the center of Sitges and with spectacular views not only of the Mediterranean, but also of the beautiful old town.
A five-star family environment with all services and adapted for people with reduced mobility that not only serves to spend a day at the beach, but is also perfect for taking a walk along the promenade and enjoying the sunset while drinking something or have dinner.
Les casetes del Garraf (Garraf)
Looking for a calmer environment? We recommend you visit this beach located in Garraf, a picturesque fishing village attached to Sitges. Almost 400 meters of fine sand and some pebbles accompanied by a soft entrance to the sea, which makes it perfect to enjoy with children.
And why les Casetes? Because the beach is surrounded by old wooden barracks used by the fishermen of the town. Today, already renovated, they accommodate a couple of restaurants, the odd bar and other services. One of the 3 best beaches in Garraf without a doubt.
Extra: In this location the videoclip A contracorriente of the famous Spanish band “El canto del loco” was recorded.

Ribes Roges Beach (Vilanova i la Geltrú)
Are you one of those who dreams of a huge beach where you can get lost by many people? Easy, in Vilanova y la Geltrú you will find what you are looking for. A wide sandy beach with all services and even a spectacular sculpture dedicated to the Greek goddess Pasífae located practically in the water.
Vilanova y la Geltrú is, in addition to the capital of Garraf, a city with a lot of history and charm. Founded in 1274, the city treasures a wide range of hotels, restaurants, museums (among which is the famous Railway Museum), leisure … which makes it the perfect place to spend a summer day.
More Garraf beaches
We have reviewed some of our favorite beaches, but there is more, much more. In Vilanova, for example, we also recommend Playa de la República, the Sant Gervasi or Adarró‘s if you are someone who prefers the beach for walks. In Sitges you can also enjoy Platja dels Balmins or Platja Terramar if you’re a fan of water sports. And in Cubelles you will find the always charming Platja de la Mota de Sant Pere.
The 3 best coves in Garraf
Do you fear possible crowds on the beach or are you just looking for a quieter and more discreet environment? In addition to the best beaches in Garraf, here you will also discover the best coves.
Cala de l’Home Mort (Sitges)
Behind this mysterious name is an authentic gem from the Garraf region. Located halfway between Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú, the cove de l’Home Mort is not only a naturist beach located in the heart of the natural park, it is one of the first LGBTI beaches in the world.
Enjoying Platja de l’Home Mort requires a short walk that takes us from the parking lot of the famous Atlántida nightclub – now closed – to the arena, but without a doubt, the effort is worth it. A tremendously intimate space with a great atmosphere thanks to a spectacular beach bar.
Cala Ginesta (Sitges)
Sitges’ beaches are delightful. Maybe that’s why so many people visit them. If you are looking for a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the Mediterranean, you may want to visit Cala Ginesta, one of the most “unknown” (and least crowded) beaches in the city.
To find it, we must head towards the Sitges limit towards Castelldefels (leaving Garraf behind) in search of Port Ginesta, the marina with the most moorings in Catalonia. Once there we can leave the car in the parking lot and walk across the port to find this special corner.
Cala del Gat (Sitges – Garraf)
With direct access from the Garraf Natural Park, Cala del Gat is a perfect place to end an excursion in the mountains. An intimate cove with clean waters and surrounded by Mediterranean pine forests located very close to Port de l’Aiguadoç.
If we just want to take a dip it is also possible to reach it on foot through a promenade along the sea from the port in the direction of Castelldefels. It has a beach bar for support and is equipped with public toilets. Its difficult access by car makes this place a haven of tranquility.

More coves in the Garraf
Yours are the coves? In addition to those already mentioned, we recommend Les Anquines, ery close to the Cala de l’Home Mort but much quieter. Next to the latter in the direction of Vilanova you will also find Cala dels Gegants and Cala Xica. Towards the other side, towards Castelledefels (and very close to Cala del Gat) you will find Cala de Vallcarca, ideal if you want to go with your dog, since it is the best beach in Garraf for pets.
Where to eat on the Garraf beaches?
A beach day is hungry. Do you want to eat something delicious? There are a thousand and one gastronomic options around all these beaches and coves. From beach bars to snack on to elegant restaurants. But if you fancy a unique and relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine and the best products from the area, you should definitely visit us.
